One Child Coffee proudly sources its La Libertad coffee beans through a Direct Trade partnership with Finca La Libertad, a distinguished coffee estate owned and operated by the Caceres family. This family-run finca, with Antonio, Emilio, and Roberto Caceres at the helm, represents four generations of coffee-growing expertise.
Situated in the department of Santa Ana, at the foot of Volcán Llamatepec, Finca La Libertad benefits from an ideal coffee-growing climate. The coffee plants thrive in volcanic soil at an altitude of 5500 feet, providing the perfect conditions for cultivating exceptional coffee. The combination of Bourbon and Kenya coffee varieties grown here are handpicked by dedicated workers, ensuring only the finest cherries are selected.
The cherries undergo an Anaerobic Natural process, a meticulous method where the coffee cherries are dried with the flesh intact before dehulling. This process enhances the beans' inherent flavors, contributing to their unique and complex profile. Finca La Libertad meticulously oversees every step, from growing and harvesting to fermenting, drying, and processing, ensuring the highest quality that surpasses what high-volume co-ops can achieve.
Finca La Libertad's dedication to excellence is evident in its accolades. The finca was a finalist of the Taza de Excelencia(Cup of Excellence) in 2021 and 2022, with impressive scores of 89.04 and 88.68, respectively.
